Genetic Variability of Oil Palm in Mexico: An Assessment Based on Microsatellite Markers

نویسندگان

چکیده

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) has become the largest source of vegetable oil in world. It is known that all existing genotypes this species are related, so their genetic variability considered to be low. In Mexico, plantations located southeast country, and they established with different origins seeds, which caused poor yields resulted need establish a improvement program. Therefore, study, extent diversity among 151 accessions from producing regions Mexico was assessed twenty simple sequence repeats (SSRs) seven random amplified microsatellite (RAM) markers. The markers utilized proved useful revealing high variability, total 1218 708 alleles detected polymorphic information content (PIC) 0.96 0.91 for RAM SSR, respectively. distance collected ranged between 31% 82% similarity. Accessions Tabasco Veracruz presented greatest smallest diversity, These results can allow breeding strategies crop Mexico.

Genetic variability of watermelon accessions based on microsatellite markers.

We analyzed the genetic variability of 40 watermelon accessions collected from 8 regions of Northeastern Brazil using microsatellite markers, in order to suggest strategies of conservation and utilization of genetic variability in this species. These accessions are not commercial cultivars. They were sampled in areas of traditional farmers that usually keep their own seeds for future plantings ...

Assessment of genetic diversity among sunflower genotypes using microsatellite markers

Genetic diversity estimation of plant materials is one of the important pre-breeding activities in breeding field crops. Twenty-one microsatellite markers used to assess genetic diversity and relationship of 68 sunflower genotypes (Helianthus annuus L.). All of 21 pairs of SSR (Simple Sequence Repeats) markers produced a total number of 49 polymorphic bands. DNA fragments ranged from 9...

New microsatellite markers for assessment of genetic diversity in date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.)

New primer pairs of genomic DNA microsatellite markers were tested to assess the genetic diversity of eleven date palm genotypes. The results indicated that out of thirty, only seven primers (23.3%) failed to amplify the expected PCR fragments, while thirteen primers (43.3%) amplified monomorphic banding patterns and the remaining ten primers (33.4%) generated polymorphic banding patterns. A to...

Genetic characterization of Libyan date palm resources by microsatellite markers

Molecular typing of 377 female date palm trees belonging to 18 Libyan cultivars and representing common genotypes in the central Libyan oasis of Al Jufrah was performed using 16 highly polymorphic microsatellite or SSR loci. A total of 110 alleles with an average of 6.88 alleles per locus were scored indicating the high level of polymorphism existing among the cultivars thus allowing their gene...
